About Kenny Knox,
Founder of TourGreens

Kenny KnoxIn the late ‘80s and early ‘90s, three-time PGA Tour winner Kenny Knox was known for his trademark putting stroke – a smooth pendulum motion that was the envy of fellow pros. Other pros wondered how Kenny could play poorly from tee to green, yet make so many cuts. “I knew I was never out of [a tournament],” says Knox, who still holds the tour record for fewest putts in a tournament, 93, set at the 1989 MCI Classic.

Some highlights from his career include:

  • All-American at Florida State
  • Winner of the 1986 Honda Classic
  • Winner of the 1989 Hardee’s Classic
  • Winner of the 1990 Southern Open

Kenny was in contention at the 1991 PGA Championship, but lost to John Daly by six strokes. Daly’s long-hitting style convinced Knox that he needed to tinker with his swing. Unfortunately, the change in his mechanics caused him back problems and led to the end of his PGA career.

Later, Knox hired a company to build a synthetic putting green in his backyard. After the green was installed, the results were disappointing. “I felt I could do better. It got me thinking...” says Knox, whose family was in the construction business. Kenny used his knowledge of the construction industry and his expertise in the short-game to start TourGreens.

Today, as Kenny works on his golf game and participates in the Champion's Tour, TourGreens' CEO, Mike Gross, oversees business operations. Check out Kenny's progress. To learn more about how TourGreens can design and install a custom putting green to meet your needs, go to www.TourGreens.com.
